Fabric haul | Sewing and knitting plans and a catch up…

    May 16, 2021 /

Hi everyone – welcome to another fabric haul and sewing plans blog and vlog. This blog accompanies my YouTube ‘fabric haul’ video and includes links to everything I talk about within the video. You can watch this video by clicking below. In the video I’m wearing an Ogden Cami by True Bias – you can find this pattern here. I used a cream crepe fabric and I’ve linked similar here. My Sewing Plans I was gifted this beautiful Art Gallery cotton fabric from Minerva for my next Brand Ambassador project for them. You can find this fabric here. I’m planning to make a short sleeved Darling Ranges Dress by Megan…

Sewing my first coat | A review of the I Am Merlin Coat by I Am Patterns

    March 17, 2021 /

When I Am Patterns brought out the Merlin Coat in autumn 2020 I jumped at the chance to buy it. I had been looking for a pattern to try as my first foray into coat making for a while and I loved the oversized look of this coat and the slight cocoon shape in the body. The Pattern I ordered myself the paper pattern directly from I Am Patterns and it arrived around a week later.  This is the first paper pattern I’ve bought from this company and I liked the minimalistic style of the pattern cover with its gold backing and see-through front. Something to note about the paper…

Sewing My First Two Myosotis Dresses – A Pattern Review…

    February 3, 2021 /

It took me so long to get around to sewing up the Myosotis Dress, I think it sat in my pattern stash for almost a year before I finally gave it a go and I really don’t know why it took me so long. I think initially I simply couldn’t decide which version to make.  I loved the frilly sleeve but wasn’t sure how it would sit under a cardigan (a very important question!) and while I loved the bottom frill, I just wasn’t quite sure about that either. So, after a lot of overthinking (who me – never!) and a lot of putting off I decided it was high…

Thoughts on 2020 and what I’ve learned in my crafting journey this past year…

    January 13, 2021 /

Well, 2020 was quite a year wasn’t it!  For us (like many others) it meant a new home schooling routine and working and staying at home for pretty much most of the year.  Luckily I’m quite a happy home bird anyway so the staying at home wasn’t too hard but of course we missed seeing all of our family and friends so much. Again, like a lot of us I’m sure, the pandemic caused me a lot of anxiety and when anxious my mind is always calmed by crafting, and thoughts of crafting and planning more crafting so it’s fair to say that a LOT of sewing and making happened…

The Florence Blouse by Size Me Sewing – A Pattern Review (in collaboration with Makerist.Com)

    January 6, 2021 /

Before Christmas Makerist kindly asked me if I would like to try one of the patterns from the designers they were featuring in a post Christmas $2 sale.  Makerist have an amazing selection of craft patterns including sewing, knitting, crochet and embroidery, you can visit their website and view their vast collection here. Flicking through all of the lovely sewing patterns on their website the Florence Blouse caught my eye.  I loved the relaxed style of the blouse and the shirring detail at the cuff.  I thought this would be a make for my wardrobe that could be dressed up or down so I knew I would get a lot…

Ten things I’ve loved about September…

    October 1, 2020 /

One – Getting back to a routine… At the beginning of September we found ourselves thrown back into school days and although we were nervous at first about how we’d all cope (by we I mainly mean me, because I’ll happily admit to loving the extra time with the kids during lockdown) it has proved to be a good thing for us all that we’re finally back into some sort of ‘normal’ routine and I’ve felt much more productive for it. Two – Conker collecting… Every year since my children were little we’ve gone down to the river that runs through our town in September to collect conkers and I’m…

After a bit of a rocky start with this pattern (totally my fault) I’m pleased to say I’m officially joining the Toaster Sweater fan club.

This is version 2 of the pattern made in a lovely French terry fabric from @sewmesunshine.uk. This was a super quick satisfying sew made a little slower by the fact I had to stripe match along the way…
You know you love a pattern when you already have more fabric lined up to make another one 😂💗

I love how this turned out so much, definitely one of those ‘turned out better than I expected’ kind of makes. Garter is a very understated stitch in my humble knitting opinion 😂
