Sewing my first coat | A review of the I Am Merlin Coat by I Am Patterns
When I Am Patterns brought out the Merlin Coat in autumn 2020 I jumped at the chance to buy it. I had been looking for a pattern to try as my first foray into coat making for a while and I loved the oversized look of this coat and the slight cocoon shape in the body. The Pattern I ordered myself the paper pattern directly from I Am Patterns and it arrived around a week later.Ā This is the first paper pattern Iāve bought from this company and I liked the minimalistic style of the pattern cover with its gold backing and see-through front. Something to note about the paper…

Sewing My First Two Myosotis Dresses ā A Pattern Reviewā¦
It took me so long to get around to sewing up the Myosotis Dress, I think it sat in my pattern stash for almost a year before I finally gave it a go and I really donāt know why it took me so long. I think initially I simply couldnāt decide which version to make. I loved the frilly sleeve but wasnāt sure how it would sit under a cardigan (a very important question!) and while I loved the bottom frill, I just wasnāt quite sure about that either. So, after a lot of overthinking (who me ā never!) and a lot of putting off I decided it was high…

Thoughts on 2020 and what Iāve learned in my crafting journey this past yearā¦
Well, 2020 was quite a year wasnāt it! For us (like many others) it meant a new home schooling routine and working and staying at home for pretty much most of the year. Luckily Iām quite a happy home bird anyway so the staying at home wasnāt too hard but of course we missed seeing all of our family and friends so much. Again, like a lot of us Iām sure, the pandemic caused me a lot of anxiety and when anxious my mind is always calmed by crafting, and thoughts of crafting and planning more crafting so itās fair to say that a LOT of sewing and making happened…

The Florence Blouse by Size Me Sewing – A Pattern Review (in collaboration with Makerist.Com)
Before Christmas Makerist kindly asked me if I would like to try one of the patterns from the designers they were featuring in a post Christmas $2 sale. Makerist have an amazing selection of craft patterns including sewing, knitting, crochet and embroidery, you can visit their website and view their vast collection here. Flicking through all of the lovely sewing patterns on their website the Florence Blouse caught my eye. I loved the relaxed style of the blouse and the shirring detail at the cuff. I thought this would be a make for my wardrobe that could be dressed up or down so I knew I would get a lot…

Ten things Iāve loved about Septemberā¦
One – Getting back to a routine⦠At the beginning of September we found ourselves thrown back into school days and although we were nervous at first about how weād all cope (by we I mainly mean me, because Iāll happily admit to loving the extra time with the kids during lockdown) it has proved to be a good thing for us all that weāre finally back into some sort of ānormalā routine and I’ve felt much more productive for it. Two – Conker collecting⦠Every year since my children were little weāve gone down to the river that runs through our town in September to collect conkers and Iām…
