The Mode at Rowan Silver Sweater in brushed fleece – a knitting pattern review…
I picked up this Mode at Rowan Brushed Fleece knitting pattern book from John Lewis in the sale for around £2 and it sat in my file of knitting patterns for a while before I decided to actually knit anything from it. I loved the look of the Silver sweater because the cable pattern looked so good but I put off trying it for a little while for fear of it being too difficult. One day, I decided to give the pattern a go and since I knew the brushed fleece is so soft I decided to go all out and use the correct yarn for the pattern. I used…

Sewing My First Two Myosotis Dresses – A Pattern Review…
It took me so long to get around to sewing up the Myosotis Dress, I think it sat in my pattern stash for almost a year before I finally gave it a go and I really don’t know why it took me so long. I think initially I simply couldn’t decide which version to make. I loved the frilly sleeve but wasn’t sure how it would sit under a cardigan (a very important question!) and while I loved the bottom frill, I just wasn’t quite sure about that either. So, after a lot of overthinking (who me – never!) and a lot of putting off I decided it was high…

Novice Cardigan Chunky Edition by Petite Knit – a knitting pattern review…
Every year I like to set myself a few crafty goals. I don’t always tell people about them , they’re just in my head – or in my planner if they make it that far! Last year’s knitting goal was to learn to knit a garment all in one piece, top down and to learn to knit in the round. Now it had got to around October of last year and this goal had not even been attempted let alone completed so I decided that enough was enough, I needed to stop being scared of this new knitting skill and just blooming well have a go… So I looked around…

Thoughts on 2020 and what I’ve learned in my crafting journey this past year…
Well, 2020 was quite a year wasn’t it! For us (like many others) it meant a new home schooling routine and working and staying at home for pretty much most of the year. Luckily I’m quite a happy home bird anyway so the staying at home wasn’t too hard but of course we missed seeing all of our family and friends so much. Again, like a lot of us I’m sure, the pandemic caused me a lot of anxiety and when anxious my mind is always calmed by crafting, and thoughts of crafting and planning more crafting so it’s fair to say that a LOT of sewing and making happened…

The Florence Blouse by Size Me Sewing – A Pattern Review (in collaboration with Makerist.Com)
Before Christmas Makerist kindly asked me if I would like to try one of the patterns from the designers they were featuring in a post Christmas $2 sale. Makerist have an amazing selection of craft patterns including sewing, knitting, crochet and embroidery, you can visit their website and view their vast collection here. Flicking through all of the lovely sewing patterns on their website the Florence Blouse caught my eye. I loved the relaxed style of the blouse and the shirring detail at the cuff. I thought this would be a make for my wardrobe that could be dressed up or down so I knew I would get a lot…

The Fred Cardigan from Lovecrafts.com – a knitting pattern review…
One sunny afternoon in September I found myself in that lovely position of just having completed a knitting project and therefore being able to justify to myself looking for another one. Love Crafts is my go to place for knitting patterns at the moment and I find they have some excellent free patterns for all levels of knitters. After scrolling through for a little while the Fred Cardigan pattern, pictured below, caught my eye. I usually stick to pretty basic patterns where knitting is concerned because I like to be able to knit in front of the TV in the evening and not be doing anything that requires too much…

Friday Pattern Company Sagebrush Top and Fibre Mood Norma Blouse Mash Up
The idea… The Sagebrush Top by Friday Pattern Company has been on my ‘to make’ list for a little while now but with autumn and the colder months coming up I wondered how much wear I’d get out of it if I made it with the short, possibly cardigan unfriendly sleeve. So I started to think of ways I could adapt the pattern slightly to add a longer sleeve instead and that’s when the Fibre Mood Norma Blouse came to mind. I absolutely love the Fibre Mood Norma blouse too and it’s another one that’s been on my list for a while but I’d not yet got around to trying. …
