What I’ve been sewing in March 2021 – Vlog description…
Hi everyone – welcome back to another Sew and Tell vlog. This blog accompanies my YouTube makes video and includes links to everything I talk about within the video. You can watch my March Makes YouTube video by clicking below. The Jarrah Sweatshirt by Megan Nielson I made my Jarrah Sweatshirt using a combination of the pattern variations with a beautiful wine and cream Ponte from Minerva. I’ve linked a similar fabric here because this particular fabric is now out of stock. The Jolanda Blouse by Atelier Vicolo N. 6 at Makerist.com I made a sleeveless version of the Jolanda Blouse by Atelier Vicolo N. 6 in collaboration with Makerist.com…

Sewing my first coat | A review of the I Am Merlin Coat by I Am Patterns
When I Am Patterns brought out the Merlin Coat in autumn 2020 I jumped at the chance to buy it. I had been looking for a pattern to try as my first foray into coat making for a while and I loved the oversized look of this coat and the slight cocoon shape in the body. The Pattern I ordered myself the paper pattern directly from I Am Patterns and it arrived around a week later. This is the first paper pattern I’ve bought from this company and I liked the minimalistic style of the pattern cover with its gold backing and see-through front. Something to note about the paper…

Five reasons why I believe crafting is good for our mental wellbeing…
I feel like crafting has always been a part of my life. Ever since quite a young age, I would want to learn the crafts I saw my mum and grandparents working on and was taught how to knit, crochet and sew basic stitches as a child. Since then, crafting has always given me a happiness and a peace, which is quite hard to explain. During my teenage years I went through a very anxious time, it was during this time that I felt crafting, knitting in particular, amongst other things really got me through. But, I don’t want to focus this blog all around the negative times, while it…

My (first) three versions of the Billie Sweatshirt by Tilly and the Buttons – a pattern review…
As soon as Tilly and the Buttons released the Billie pattern, I fell in love with it. I love to wear jersey and sweatshirts have fast become my wear of choice during this extended lockdown period we’ve found ourselves in here in the UK meaning that we’re at home in our cosy clothes far more than we usually would be perhaps. The Billie can be made as a sweatshirt or as a dress. I’ve not yet made a dress version but I definitely hope to in the future. You can order yourself a copy of the Billie pattern here. I loved the look of the basic sweatshirt pattern, but…

Sewing My First Two Myosotis Dresses – A Pattern Review…
It took me so long to get around to sewing up the Myosotis Dress, I think it sat in my pattern stash for almost a year before I finally gave it a go and I really don’t know why it took me so long. I think initially I simply couldn’t decide which version to make. I loved the frilly sleeve but wasn’t sure how it would sit under a cardigan (a very important question!) and while I loved the bottom frill, I just wasn’t quite sure about that either. So, after a lot of overthinking (who me – never!) and a lot of putting off I decided it was high…

Thoughts on 2020 and what I’ve learned in my crafting journey this past year…
Well, 2020 was quite a year wasn’t it! For us (like many others) it meant a new home schooling routine and working and staying at home for pretty much most of the year. Luckily I’m quite a happy home bird anyway so the staying at home wasn’t too hard but of course we missed seeing all of our family and friends so much. Again, like a lot of us I’m sure, the pandemic caused me a lot of anxiety and when anxious my mind is always calmed by crafting, and thoughts of crafting and planning more crafting so it’s fair to say that a LOT of sewing and making happened…
